How to Get Your Energy Back for Better Work

Almost everyone feels himself tired today. It is normal, because our energy levels are low enough to the end of a week. But this problem is relevant not only on Fridays.

Low energy level is a huge problem for all working people, especially for business owners, top managers and project leaders. Sometimes you can't even understand why you lose your energy so fast.

It's Friday today, you definitely have such a low-energetic feeling now, so let's talk – where our energy goes and how to get it back.

How do you lose your energy? You think that it goes because you work too hard. Hm-m… Yes, but that's not the main way to stay without energy at all.

What are the most powerful channels to spend our energy?

  1. Basic metabolism (chemical and physical processes that our body needs to stay alive and to function).
  2. Physical activities (moving, working, doing exercises etc.).
  3. Brain activities (thinking, feelings, emotions).

The flow of our outgoing energy increases when we are in stress, in physical or mental tense, when we are sick, in love or depression. But all those channels are "visible". Do you know that there are several hidden channels, which cut a big part of our daily energetic level, and you even don't realize it?

What we are talking about?

  1. Worries and fears about potential negative results of your work, communications, relations
  2. Flashbacks to the past, grievances and suffering
  3. Dreaming about future with no believe that your dreams will come true
  4. Negative emotions and feelings

Those channels you can close with your own will, stop your inner dialog and work to express your negative energy in a positive way. But there are many sources which we need to refill daily and to keep it stabile. Sometimes all your energy problems are connected with your health, so before doing something to increase your energy, visit your doctor and make sure you are healthy.

What you can do to boost your energy level today and every day?

Add some sun

This advice is very important in a middle-season time, especially in the regions where sun is not an often guest. Use every minute to spend time under the sun in a sunny day. Just 15-20 minutes daily increase your energy levels, boost your vitamin D levels (this vitamin takes part in metabolic processes which are also responsible for your health and mood). Sun is the best antidepressant ever, so don't waste your time – go into the sun! What to do if it is not sunny? Switch on the brightest lamp you have, surround yourself with a bright light that has almost the same effect (although the sun is definitely better due to ultraviolet rays). Don't forget to cover your head and wear sunglasses if you are going to spend more than 20 minutes under sunrays.

Move it, move it!

It may seem strange and even paradoxical – everyone knows that physical activity expends your energy. Why are we talking about its increasing? There are two types of energy, both of them affect the overall level of your energy and your health: body (physical) and brain (emotional, psychical) energy types. If you are an office worker, you feel tired mostly because of low brain energy level. Physical activities make your blood circulation more intense, blood begins to circulate better in your brain and throughout the body. You feel yourself full of energy, even if you are physically tired. Take water – this is also very important!

Sleep tonight

Go sleep early! About a half of adult people all over the world don't get enough sleep at night. Our bodies and brains have no time to recover energy that was spent during the previous day. This lack of energy constantly accumulates and creates a feeling of fatigue and exhaustion day by day. Sleep 7-8 hours, not less, but also no more than 9 – it may cause the opposite effect. To increase the quality of your sleep you should feel physically (!) tired in the end of the day, to spend at least 30 minutes at the fresh air – better to have a walk in the evening, to have a light dinner in 3-4 hours before sleep, and not later. Make sure that your bedroom is dark, quiet and cool. By the way, if you can, take short naps during the day.

Sing, dance and play

Listen to the music you like, better if it is rhythmic music during the working day and calming, relaxing music in the evening. And better – singMaybe it is quite problematic to sing at work, but you can do it during the morning shower or your evening bath. Go to the corridor or elevator in your office and dance (be careful in the elevator, just kidding). Do you know how kids get their energy back? They play. Find what to play in – chess, Sudoku, Angry Birds, anything else, any game on your laptop or phone is good. Sing, dance, play – these types of activities and mood-improvers work really good, and it was proven by the scientific facts.

You have already put your headphones on and went for a walk? Good for you!
