Summer at Work: Survival Guidance

Only a man whose business is already very successful and works practically without his owner's efforts, can allow himself a long summer vacation, but even in this case he often has to stay in touch, and it is impossible to relax completely.

For the majority business owners of any size projects, summer is spent at work. Even if you are sitting on the beach with a laptop on your lap - you are still at work. But this is also a rare case. So, let's go to the office and figure out what we can do to balance our rest and work this summer.

What is the problem?

The fact is that historically in those regions where summer is the only season with a high average daily temperature people use it for recreation more often than other seasons. In addition, the majority of Europeans who are not accustomed to the tropical climate don't takes heat comfortably and healthy. A body is adjusted to surviving process and it does not want to make any effort

Our bodies want to have a rest. But you need - and you even WANT to work. Let's talk about how to work effectively and relax healthy if you have an office summer.

Organize comfortable conditions

In order to set your mind and body for productive work, you need to create working conditions that help you not to be distracted by discomfort and poor health. Take care of air temperature - clean and check all air conditioners and ionizers, and if possible, ventilate your office in the morning for 20-30 minutes. Provide the office with regular intake of cool and clean drinking water that should be accessible to all employees in unlimited quantities. Check out the office kitchen, if you have it - the refrigerator should work properly, and everything around should be clean (by the way, this applies to office desks and other interior items as well). Pay attention to the light sources: some employees can seat at the tables in positions that may led to a heat stroke due to the sun shining directly on them through a window. And air conditioner will not help in this case.

How to Plan The Summer If You are a Business Owner

Write lists and schedule tasks

It is difficult to concentrate if you work on a summer day. No matter how hard you try, your brain will still strive to do as little as possible - and the body will willingly follow it. There is no point in fighting human physiology. The most reasonable thing is to go with the flow (or let your body guide you in this dance, choose the metaphor by yourself). Within a few days, pay attention to your activity peaks - when do you work better, and when you do not have the strength and desire to do anything? Distribute your tasks accordingly. Make lists and schedules of work tasks for yourself and the team - this will help not to spend additional energy when it is needed to perform your work. Cross out what has been done - this simple move works great, and your brain stops to perceive work as a snowball (which does not melt even in the summer).

Seasonal Business: How to Achieve Your Goals

Add good moments to every day

On the way to work listen to your favorite music - make a playlist with positive songs and use it daily. If there is an opportunity to listen to some rhythmic melodies in the office - do it, but on condition that they do not annoy anyone. Reward yourself every day. Figure out what good things you could do for yourself - and make a list. For example, to go to the beach tonight, to spend dinner with the family outside the house in your favorite restaurant tomorrow, to go to a sushi bar with friends on Thursday, and to play football with colleagues after a busy day on Friday. There may be activities with a single participant (introverts, that's for you) - a quiet car trip through the urban neighborhoods, or fishing, an evening with a book in the nearest park, after all, just a rest on the couch with your favorite movie on the screen. Try to stay out of working conditions after and before your office day - for example, if you work with the Internet, limit the time spent on the Web activities when you are not working.

Work & Weekend: How to Find a Balance for Success

Work as if you had "almost a vacation"

It does not mean to work badly or not to make efforts! This means to do your best during the time that specifically exists for work. But after you leave the office, make a purposeful effort to throw out of the head all the work tasks and begin to rest. Arrange small holidays every summer evening, have some fun and invigorating mornings every day, spend a mini vacation every weekend. In the majority of cities and towns there are some pieces of nature, ponds and other places where you can feel like having a summer rest. Find them and visit regularly. Don't forget about healthy eating, drinking a plenty of water and exercising regularly. You will see how good is to have a rest even in the busy working summer!
